A picturesque pink stucco exterior with green trim makes the two-storey Desert Rose Cafe building a landmark corner site in downtown Elora. The large bright green and orange sign mid-wall on the south side of the building displays the Desert Rose Cafe name. Flowers and ornamental garden art adorn the south side of the building, beneath the green framed windows. The East facing side or front of the restaurant faces Geddes Street and the main sidewalk. The front store windows and door are framed in green. Out front a small bright green sign displays the business name hung from a wrought iron pole.

One of the prettiest buildings in the village, the pink exterior is a testament to a landmark restaurant that has welcomed visitors and locals alike for decades, based on the Desert Rose Café’s reputation for fresh, homemade vegetarian and vegan meals made from scratch, served up in the intimate atmosphere of a harvest table café, or on the seasonal patio. The food is legendary, inspiring an award-winning vegetarian cookbook, winner of Gourmand World Cookbook Award. This is a place to eat well and relax with friends.
